Why Hydrotherapy

Warm water swimming is physically restorative and mentally stimulating.

Physically, your dog receives all the natural benefits of warm water; increased blood flow and circulation, relaxation allowing for tension to be released and muscle guarding to diminish, and lungs can breathe deeper and fuller. The viscosity of the water aids in your dog’s ability to move while feeling supported taking the strain off of the body bearing its own weight. At the same time, increasing the resistance of each stroke building strength and endurance. The gait of swimming for dogs demands that the joints fully extend and use all the supporting muscles. This is an optimal, safe form of exercise for dogs, especially large breeds and puppies who bear a lot of weight on fast-growing bones and tissues when on land.

There are many emotional benefits of swimming. Your dog will build confidence in themselves as a result of feeling the support of the water allowing them to move more freely and with less pain. This can improve their mood and bring out the puppy in them! Swimming in warm water at our relaxing facility can greatly reduce anxiety and tension in your dog. Vigorous exercise combined with the mental stimulation of swimming will leave your dog happy and tired.

Swimming is a great way to maintain fitness during off-seasons or when the weather, or life, doesn’t allow for your normal fitness routine. The possibilities for fitness and recovery are endless with warm water therapy!
