Hello! My name is Lady Lux. I’m an almost 11-year-old female French bulldog.

I’ve been swimming with Bree (one of my absolute favorite humans!) at Fido Physio for about two years now. I started swimming when my owners noticed I was getting really stiff in the mornings and after our walks. They worked with our vet and found out I had pretty severe arthritis in my hips and spine. So, warm water therapy has been a great way for me to get exercise and stretch my muscles! Coming to Fido every Friday is the highlight of my week. I get a break from my two annoying little brothers and get one-on-one time in the water!

Lady Lux’s story is a great example of awareness and advocacy. Her guardians were able to identify that her mobility had changed and followed up with their vet.

Lady Lux, as described by her swim therapist, Bree:

“She’s always very excited to arrive — she knows exactly what she’s there for, and she loves to swim. She’s hilarious because she gets so excited to be let into the building that she talks/screams her head off until I hand her favorite toy. Then she carries that toy in her mouth for the duration of the swim, and will only give it up in exchange for treats right before she leaves. During her swim, she really enjoys what I call ‘boosters,’ which is when I put my forearm behind her back legs for her to kick against as she swims really fast back to the top step, where she docks. I think she really enjoys zooming through the water that way. 😊”
